WhatsApp to Launch New Feature to Mute Calls from Unknown Numbers

WhatsApp is reportedly planning to roll out an exciting new feature on its platform in the coming months. The instant messaging application, which is owned by Meta, is said to be developing a feature that will allow users to mute calls from unknown numbers.

According to WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp, the new feature will enable users to silence calls from unknown numbers while still seeing them in the calls list and notification center. This feature has several benefits, including reducing interruptions and potentially avoiding spam calls.

The toggle for the new feature will be located in the app settings. Once enabled, calls from unknown numbers will always be silenced, but they will still be displayed in the calls list and notification center. This new feature may also help users significantly reduce spam calls, which have become a growing problem with scammers and their unsolicited calls.

While WhatsApp currently provides the option to block and report these callers, the ability to silence unknown callers is a feature under development and will be released in a future update of the app. The new feature is expected to be a welcome addition for users who want to avoid receiving calls from unknown numbers, which are often associated with spam calls.

In related news, WhatsApp is also working on a redesign of its attachment menu for iOS. This new chat attachment menu, which is currently under development, is expected to bring it in line with the attachment menu already available on WhatsApp for Android. The redesign is expected to be released in a future update of the app
